A Pittsburgh Principal's Response to Waiting For Superman

No parent should have to send their child to a failing school. Waiting for Superman highlights that devastating reality for many families. The movie also gives insight to the hopelessness that a comes when schools don't serve their students or communities well. When a child is trapped in a well, people gather together quickly to get them out. Poor performing schools trap students into a future with little hope and minimal economic opportunity. Whether you support charter schools, private schools, vouchers or none of these options, the clock is ticking. As a country, we need to act now to get students into high performing schools with the support to move ahead successfully. It is the only decent thing to do. Bob Phelps, Principal Pittsburgh Urban Christian School
