PITTSBURGH

What We Do

STC Pittsburgh has been serving historically marginalized K-12 students in Pittsburgh since 2007. Since its inception, STC Pittsburgh has been dedicated to cross-sector collaboration, bringing together district and charter schools to share best practices. Since 2014, it has been focused on preparing students for postsecondary success, highlighted by an outstanding national Forum hosted at the University of Pittsburgh in 2018.

STC Pittsburgh embeds its award-winning career readiness curriculum into district and charter schools throughout the regional area. This has included its innovative Design Challenge at the middle school level, and its career readiness curriculum at the high school level. This curriculum was recently recognized by the U.S. Department of Education with its Career Z Challenge award as one of only ten organizations in the country offering the most exemplary work-based learning programming, and the only organization in the state of Pennsylvania.

Work-Based Learning Experiences

Anchored by our micro-internship unit that introduces students to company work experiences with interactive problem-solving exercises designed to spark student interest in various fields, work-based learning experiences are an expanding part of our award-winning career readiness program.
