Visions of Tomorrow is a project I have been working on with Schools That Can. The goal of this project was to answer the question, “How do you feel about the future as a young individual?” I asked a variety of students to share just a few sentences answering this question, sharing what they hope their education to employment, pathway, or life after high school will be. Personally, I am very excited about my future, because I see so many positive opportunities ahead. I know that there will be setbacks and challenges that come my way, but I also know that I am capable of facing them and accomplishing my dreams.
I started this project because high school has been a stressful journey for me. The pressures of life after graduation have been overwhelming, yet exciting to think about. I was wondering if other students felt the same way I do. Whether they were anxious for the future or excited, I couldn’t help but wonder what variety of thoughts and opinions other teenagers may have.
Diving into this project has allowed me to explore the different perspectives from teenagers within different schools and communities. This experience has given me valuable insights into the diverse challenges and opportunities other teens face, and has broadened my understanding of how various environments can shape our views and aspirations.
One thing that I want people to take away from this project is that while many youth feel optimistic and excited about the future, there’s still a common thread of nervousness and uncertainty. This mix of emotions highlights the importance of love and support as they navigate their paths. To support young people and their futures, I think it is important that adults provide them with opportunities and guidance. This can help young people gain the skills and support they need to build their futures!
